The Zwarte Zee was a renowned traditional ship, which was built in 1963.
She was designed by the engineer JCA Hoogenbosch and manufactured by J. & K. Smit’s Shipyards SA in Kinderdijk – a village in South Holland.
The Zwarte Zee was the most powerful tugboat in the world, with 9,000 HP and 73 tonnes of weight.
However, she was soon surpassed by other powerful tugboats.
It comprised a gross tonnage of 1,539 tonnes. The Zwarte Zee tugboat was powered by two Smit-M.A.N. Turbo diesel engines producing 9000 HP.
It had a speed of 16-18 knots.

The replica of the Zwarte Zee Ship is made after a deep naval study, including the miniatures as well as paintings of the ship.
The build process of this ship model kit includes a plan containing the detailed information of the original ship, precise drawings, and general instructions explained with construction outlooks.
